History of the Moon: Volume II, Part IV [backdated to Monday]
now listen to doctor
[info]hop_toit_udonge
Oh boys~~~

My feet are just so sore. And I'm just so thirty. Won't some spry, young gentleman help a poor old woman in her day? I'd appreciate it so much!

[[ backdated so that the influence event is still in effect ]]

The Major General, and my rabbit, are gone.

If anyone needs a safe place to stay, my home will suffice. I'm already setting up proper defenses. Though I'd like as much intelligence on this new enemy as I can. Don't worry if you think I've already heard it.

-... Well that was certainly odd. A name, previously unknown to her, had come with exceptional clarity into her mind. Along with a face, a personality, a body, and lips that she knew had touched hers. How... remarkably strange. Was that a memory she had left behind in her time here? Or was it taken from her? Or perhaps it was entirely false, as some had said...

Only one way to find out. She picks up the phone.-

Assassin-san, please come by my office -by which she means her house-. I believe we have something to discuss.

I suppose I've been laying low long enough. I may as well make this obvious. A few of you already know, after all...

This is Dr. Eirin Yagokoro. I was a former resident of Mayfield recently repositioned here. To those of you whom I knew here before, hello again. To any new faces, such as my "husband" and "daughter", it's a pleasure to meet you. And yes, dears, I am not a drone.

So, tell me Mayfield, did I miss anything particularly fascinating?

Major General Olivier Armstrong is currently incapacitated. Was there anyone that was trusted with command in the event of such a thing? If so, I would like to speak with you.

Tewi Inaba, and by extension her establishment, have gone from this world.

For those of you suffering from the effects of your own foolish actions, I am willing to do what I can. But let me make it clear that I cannot restore missing parts. Though I suppose I can help with the pain.

As for the rest of you? Congratulations on the results of your gamble. I'm sure you feel quite happy with what you've obtained. Surely they outweigh the loss, yes? Otherwise, why would you have risked it, hmm?

Ah, and on that note... Reisen, I may get a rather large patient load soon. Do you think you could take some time out of your day to assist me? Why, you could bring hime-sama over as well. We'll make an outing of it.

Tewi, you are forbidden from trying to find a way to play this system.

Reisen. I'd like to see you soon if it is at all possible. Hime-sama as well. I think we should have a family get together. I've been feeling... nostalgic lately.

Four days ago, on July 16th, 1969, the Second Lunar War began. It was also that day that Reisen came into our lives and our "family" in Eientei was complete. It's odd, thinking of a day like that in such a positive light. But the war was not really our problem...

Tell me, Mayfield, do any of you have any particular days you value?

"For what good man would lay down his life so that others may live. I would prefer the man that would lay down his life so others may learn."

... Actually, I believe that quote is attributed to me these days back on the moon. I can't for the life of me recall the context anymore. It's a bit strange, don't you think? If we weren't also imprisoned in our very life here, the amount of sacrifice made for something so simple... would seem almost insane. But who here maintains illusions of sanity, hmm? Desperation has already altered many of us. Our perceptions of the value of life and death. You'd be called mad anywhere else. Death is not a condition one can cure, they say.

Well, Mayfield... I know too well what they say to that sort of madness. But there was no condition that Yagokoro the Wise could not cure. That included death. And you will learn the price that comes with that revelation. And I will not laugh when it happens.

-The phone has been knocked off the hook as, for the however man-ieth time today, Eirin has been forced to rush to the bathroom and dry heave for about half an hour. The sounds you are hearing are hardly pleasant. Hell, the woman making them is practically crying. Pain is one thing, but this is a whole new kind of torture. She can't eat anything because she can't keep it down. She's had to practically inhale water to keep the fever under control, and what's worse is that it seems none of her medicines are working.

A medical genius... enslaved by sickness...

The irony is goliath sized.-

-Eirin's sitting on her porch, quietly drinking tea and humming an old Japanese folk song to herself. Some might recognize it as "Kagome Kagome". She's been noticeably different lately, but still has been pretending like nothing's wrong. After all, she didn't betray Reisne. Reisen betrayed HER. She was not to blame for this.

Come and bother her at your own risk.-

-The voice heard is faint, tired, and somewhat lucid... but it's a voice. One that those associated with the good doctor haven't heard in some time.-

... Reisen? Reisen... come here, please.

I... need help getting up. It seems my legs are too weak to support me...

I want to see them... Ky, Minatsuki, Tewi, Shiki, all of them...

I don't want to give up...

-The next sound is a crash as furniture is tossed aside. There's a pause and then... quiet sobbing.-

Tokoyo... Where is Tokoyo?

To be honest, I never thought I'd see the day this house would be converted into a shelter. Though, I suppose, given what Ky and I do in our own worlds, it only makes sense...

If there are any wounded out there, I do suggest you make your way to 342 Brady. Or if you're hungry, as Reisen is an excellent cook! Either way, until this madness is over, our house is yours.

Hmm... I should check on Kaguya...

And now... suddenly... things change.

I will be working late tonight. I do not wish for any visitors.

-And, of course, if you actually go looking for Eirin, she's going to be in the pharmacology lab of the hospital. What is she looking for? What are all these beakers and medicines and other materials for? Well, even without her power to create any medicine... she has to try.

She has to try and find a cure for the real disease that she fears will slowly kill them all. The disease that struck her family finally. The disease that makes souls into the soulless. She is looking for a cure for the "drones".-

[[ Of course, even though she says she doesn't want visitors, if you work at the hospital or are bound and determined to see her anyways, you're free to do so. ]]
